In 1999, Sensei Bernardo Fabia Salinas founded the Northern Tiger Shotokan Asssociation, a non-profit organization, to assist students, practitioners to further their training, and experience in martial art. The association established a Scholarship Program to encourage students to excel in every aspect of their education, and to reward students that shows dedication to their studies in school, and in martial art.
The Association fundraise money to offset the expenses associated with out of town tournaments, travel, and seminars. The association also holds annual activities for students, summer camp training, Club In-house tournament training to helps students to expand their knowledge, and experience in competition, participates in local and provincial tournament across the country, and Annual Recognition & Scholarship Award for the students. The association is affiliated with the Martial Arts Training Society of the Philippines, in association of SFMA International. The association is under supervision by the founder.
NTSKA Scholarship Program
The SCHOLARSHIP Program - was design to encourage students to excel in every aspect of their education, to assist students to further their training, and experience in martial arts and promote martial art for non-resistance or non-violence in accordance to the highest level of the art.
Scholarship Award Evaluation - students are evaluated in accordance of their school studies, and their training in martial art. Students are required to submit their school report card, teacher personal statement, and student personal statement which is ESSAY base on their ability to discribe and express themselves regarding the important aspect of the subject matter of their essay in regards in martial art. In their martial art training evaluation students must have and outstanding attendance, good behaviour and intensity of training. A $300 will be awarded to qualified student.

To All NTSKA Board of Directors and Members Thanks to everyone for providing me with your email address! I hope by providing members with email updates on an as-needed basis, in addition to the verbal updates provided during class by Sensei’s Salinas or McGuire or Sempai’s Jason or Jennifer, all members will get the information needed to stay in the loop on schedule changes and important events. We (the NTSKA) held our Annual General Meeting on October the 20th. Thank-you to those members who attended our meeting and shared your thoughts and views we appreciate your participation. Elections were held this year we thank those members who have stepped-up to positions that were opening up and to those who are staying on for another two years. Our new Executive is as follows:

Your contributions have been invaluable. I would like to remind everyone that there is an extra training session for all students the first Saturday of every month. The next Saturday session is this Saturday, November 5. All coloured belts (yellow and up) please come at 10:00 am and all white belts, including white belts attending the adult classes, please arrive ready to train at 11:00 am. Saturday training sessions are held in the Bert Ambrose gymnasium and conclude at noon. At this time I’d also like to let you know that the Club Christmas Party will be held on Sunday December 18. The North Peace Leisure Pool has been booked for swimming for members and their families (including all siblings) followed by a potluck dinner. Please start thinking of a peanut free food item that you’d like to bring! There will be further updates provided in the coming weeks!
